As El Dorado High School's 2023-2024 Senior Class President, I know the support system necessary for a successful senior year. The district plays an important role behind the scenes in working with our schools, and without a strong representative like Tricia Quintero, students may not have a good school year. Although I am no longer in the district, I have a fifth-grade brother who will be directly impacted by the decisions the school board makes in the coming years. Tricia Quintero will be the voice for both students and parents, ensuring their concerns and needs are heard. Her hands-on experience as an involved parent and deep-rooted connections to the community makes her the best fit for PYLUSD’s school board representative. I trust that with her leadership, my brother and other PYLUSD students will benefit from her commitment to fostering an enriching educational environment.

Dear voters,
I would like to accentuate the qualities of Mrs. Quintero that make her the amazing mom, wife, friend, and leader that she is and endorse her for the appointment to the PYLUSD School Board in Area 1. My name is Robert Hagar and I am from Yorba Linda, California and attended Eldorado High School in Placentia, California, where I had the great honor and opportunity to become closer with Mrs. Quintero and her family. Her son and I had known each other for many years prior to high school but it was during those 4 years where I spent much more time with her son Isaiah, both on and off the football field. Whether it was during practice, during football banquets, or on a random Saturday night at the Quintero house watching sports, the support and love of Mrs. Quintero was always evident. She always made time for our group of friends even while she was busy supporting our football team, her family, and Eldorado High School.
Mrs. Quintero exemplifies what it is to be a leader and an overall amazing human through her acts of sacrifice, positivity, and passionate service and these qualities are exactly what our school board needs. I am currently a freshman at Texas A&M and I still receive loving care packages and words of support from Mrs. Quintero even from halfway across the country. No matter what she is faced with, she always puts others and her community first and will always ensure that all people are heard and seen. This is why I would like to reach out to all voters and encourage them to vote Mrs. Tricia Quintero for PYLUSD School Board in Area 1.
Sincerely,
Robert Hagar

I am pleased to endorse Tricia Quintero for school board.

Tricia has been serving our community in a variety of capacities for years.  Her hard work, dedication and passion for serving others and education are evident.   Her special insight as a teacher, parent, and a school and community volunteer uniquely position her to bring the positive changes that are needed on our PYLUSD board.

— Leslie Alexander

As a 38 year employee and 49 year resident of the PYLUSD, I endorse Tricia Quintero, without reservation or hesitation, for the Board of Education of the PYLUSD. At this time, our community is in desperate need of board members who are educated and have a background in and understanding of public education. — James Bell
Retired Principal of Valencia HS

In recent years, a small majority on our school board have allowed political ideology into our previously superb school board, and many of the decisions  they have made lack the transparency, thoughtfulness, educator and community input necessary to make our district great.  We need to elect a school board member who is endorsed by parents, district educators and administrators, not by those simply seeking to further their own agenda.

Please support and vote for Tricia Quintero.

— Kerry Collins
Retired Special Education teacher after 20 years at El Dorado High School, BTSA and Induction Mentor, parent and grandparent of PYLUSD graduates, current substitute teacher.

I am endorsing Tricia Quintero for PYLUSD School Board Trustee for three main reasons.  First and foremost – Tricia Quintero’s roots grow deep in this community.  She and her husband raised their family here. The Quintero family can be traced back generations in this community and with a legacy like that Tricia Quintero is invested in this school district.  Its schools and its students are precious to her and she will take that responsibility for each and every one of its students as if they were her own children.  She cares deeply about the people who live here and the quality of their lives and all of that is an integral part of a school district.

Second – Tricia Quintero is a respected, talented, creative and long-time teacher herself.  She brings a unique perspective to her school board seat being both a teacher and a parent.  That perspective allows her to not only see both sides of an issue, but to have experienced both sides which is a precious asset for a board member to have.

Third – Tricia Quintero is one of the most honest and decent people I have ever come to know.  She is the same person to your face as she is behind your back and I have seen her constantly strive to make the right and honorable choices even when some other options might be more expeditious.  She has an innate code of conduct that is apparent and this is what makes her one of the most respected civic leaders I have ever met.

I cannot think of any other person running for this seat who has more integrity and honesty than Tricia.  She will settle for nothing less than a board that is fiscally responsible, openly transparent and respectful of all its constituents.  Vote for Tricia Quintero for PYLUSD School Board and it will be a vote you will not regret.

— Mary Cummings
Retired PYLUSD, Esperanza 1978-2016
I have had the pleasure and privilege of watching Tricia Quintero lead the EDHS PTSA. She has the heart of a servant and has taken on any task that was needed. PYLUSD needs someone with a background in education and without a personal or political agenda to help lead us into the future. After 18 years working in the district, I have worked with a variety of school board members. I believe that Tricia would return the school board to a more appropriate and respectful climate. Maybe more importantly, she will foster an open and honest level of communication that will make PYLUSD a destination district as it once was.  — Joey Davis
Former El Dorado High School Principal
There is nothing more important in representative government than having a great person looking after the wellbeing of a community and especially our children. Tricia Quintero is smart, strong, and caring. She is someone you want in the room, helping to create the best possible environment for our students and their futures. We fully support Tricia for School Board Trustee in Area 1. — Geoff & Sarah Jones

— Lisa Kling Ortiz

As a retired educator from PYLUSD and a parent of 4 PYLUSD graduates, I know how important it is for all pieces of a school district puzzle to work together respectfully to meet its students' needs. Unifying parents, teachers, para-educators, administrators, and the community to put students first is an important task that Tricia Quintero will not take lightly. Her experience as an educator and an active parent leader within PTA and community organizations shows her commitment and ability to work with others. I am confident Tricia will work to bring unity back to a district known for its quality programs and open, respectful communication in the past. With that in mind, I strongly endorse Tricia Quintero Area 1 who will serve fairly and respectfully as she advocates for all students.

— Cynthia McCarthy Greenlee
Travis Ranch 1989-1997

Tricia Quintero’s teaching career spans two decades and she has been a dedicated volunteer in the PYLUSD for 16 years.  She and her husband raised two children who both went through PYLUSD schools and their parents supported their children in youth and school sports programs and were active in the booster clubs and, especially, in the PTSA where Tricia will be irreplaceable on the El Dorado High School PTSA.  Her experience alone is enough to endorse her as a school board trustee, but Tricia brings more to the table than just this.  She is a tireless worker and a champion for students. She is a golden example of leadership and good citizenship and she will bring civility back to the school board.  She is exactly the kind of trustee our board so badly needs.  This is my whole-hearted endorsement for Tricia Quintero for PYLUSD School Board Trustee.

Volunteer Boards have their own unique personalities highly influenced by their leadership. Last year I served on the El Dorado High School PTSA under the presidency of Tricia Quintero (as well as 2 other years). Tricia led with calm and grounded efficiency, with a mastery in Robert's Rules, the Bylaws and ensuring financial transparency through budgetary compliance. Tricia listened to her committee members in collaboration of  the Board approved programs that supported students, their families and school staff. Tricia does not micromanage. She respects, ensuring a positive environment for fellow board members. Tricia is a present leader attending functions and events, not from a sense of obligation, but of genuine interest born from her innate kindness, years of expertise as a professional educator and perspective as a wife and mother of two children who attended their school life in the community of PYLUSD. I endorse Tricia Quintero for School Trustee Area 1, as she moves up to the next logical step in leadership to the great benefit of students, families and the school staff of PYLUSD.

Residents of “Trustee Area 1”:
With Shawn Youngblood’s retirement from the school board, we the citizens of Placentia, Brea,
Fullerton, and Yorba Linda of “Trustee Area 1” will vote to hire his replacement.

This letter is written in behalf of Tricia Quintero. Tricia has not solicited a recommendation from
me. I have observed Tricia since my eldest son (a graduate of El Dorado High School), began
school as a 7th grader at Tuffree Middle school and I have known Tricia’s husband and family
all of my life. Tricia was always involved with her children to help them find fulfilment and
happiness. But this was not all—she selflessly volunteered her time and sacrificed other
personal pursuits to better the lives of kids outside of her family in the PYLUSD—their
academic pursuits, athletic pursuits, and with their other extracurricular activities. Over the years,
she has developed positive relationships with teachers by serving them and supporting both
students and administrators within our schools. This is evidence that Tricia will serve likewise as
a public leader at the top of our schools. Tricia is honest and of sound character.

I have been a resident of Placentia since 1975. I have been a dentist in Placentia since 2002. I
graduated from Valencia High School, class of 1992. I grew up with the Quintero family.
Tricia’s father-in-law was my little league baseball coach in 1st and 2nd grade. Her husband and I
went through Tynes Elementary, Kraemer Middle, and Valencia High School together. Now,
each of our kids have attended El Dorado High School.

Tricia has deep roots in our community, and she will not betray our money. She is wise and will
allocate our money thoughtfully so that our community will continue to see property
appreciation. This is a natural outflow of keeping PYLUSD a destination and desired school
district for families to move into. She will read the budget and ask the tough questions that need
to be asked before money is earmarked to things. I trust Tricia to make fiscal decisions that
benefit our schools in ways that uplift kids and teachers; but most importantly uplifting this
community that we have lived in for so long. Tricia will not betray this young generation in an
age where we see so much evil and distrust and where we see right being taught as error and
wrong being taught as good.

Sometimes I worry when I observe selfishness amongst our leaders who decide public policy. I
worry when I see school board members say the right things to get me emotionally thinking one
way, but then observe actions that are not civil and polite and good. I don’t like to see board
members promise a good thing, the details not disclosed, but then afterwards read the details of a
policy decision that have bad things also hidden within their tenants. It seems not honest to me
when this happens.

Sharp differences in our politics often result in hostility and even hatred in public relationships.
We are living in a time of many harsh and hurtful words in public communication. Our PYLUSD
school board has always in the past been able to cordially meet, spar and work out differences,
and then eventually be agreeable even after policy votes were not unanimous. My father, Dr.
Craig T. Olson, served on the PYLUSD school board for 16 years and I witnessed first-hand the
synergy that can occur in our community and schools when people on the school board choose to
run because they choose to serve out of love and choose to serve without self-interest. I have
seen through my dad’s example of kindness and respect a fulfilment of outcome to kids,
teachers, property owners, and administrators alike. Tricia is a woman who offers positivity, and
not anger or contention. Her heart is grounded. I trust her to make decisions that benefit our
“Trustee Area 1”.

As a parent, I have observed school board members over the years. I have observed my
children’s instrumental music performances at the elementary school level, middle school level,
and high school level. It is always impressive when I see a school board member in attendance
because it speaks to me that they care. Tricia will be a school board member who cares. She has
already shown this type of interest with our schools and kids in her years of volunteerism. She
has already provided me evidence enough.

In my opinion, Tricia Quintero would be a wonderful PYLUSD school board member. I believe
she possesses the attributes, energy, and talent to be able to carry on the tradition of PYLUSD
excellence.
I wholeheartedly endorse Tricia with my highest recommendation for the PYLUSD School
Board.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rees M. Olson D.D.S.

I attended schools in this district, as well as my children and grandchildren. PYLUSD has always been a place to help students and teachers thrive. As a lifetime resident of Placentia and retired employee of the Placentia Yorba Linda School District, I am endorsing Mrs. Tricia Quintero for PYLUSD school board. I believe Mrs. Quintero will bring her experience as an educator, parent, and volunteer to help bring our district back to what it was for our parents, students, teachers, and other staff members.

Tricia is a dedicated educator, mother and community member.  She has more than 20+ years of classroom experience and in leadership roles of education.  As a colleague, I have witnessed first hand her passion and drive to consistently serve her students and their individual needs.  She is one of the most involved parents I have ever known. Tricia has served, and been the leader, on every PTA for her own children, while simultaneously serving on various committees at her own school. Tricia never backs down from a challenge and has always fought for what is best for kids.  I personally have relied on her for guidance when it comes to my own children and their journey’s in PYLUSD. She is not only extremely knowledgeable in regards to the ins and outs of education, she is honest and will help to ensure that all stakeholders will do what is best for students. I fully support and endorse Tricia for PYLUSD school board. I know that the future of my children’s education will be in excellent hands with Tricia as a member of the PYLUSD school board.

My name is Dave Tennant. My wife Chris and I have made Yorba Linda our home since 1977. We love this town and its people. We both worked for the Placentia-Yorba Linda School district for the bulk of our careers and are now happily retired.

We have seen lots of changes to our town and community. When we first moved here, the world ended at Rio Del Oro. We have seen so many changes.

One change that has confused us is the direction taken by the PYLUSD school board. We have been concerned by the tone, tenor, and decisions that seem to have created confusion for some and consternation for others. Key to our concerns is that political ideologies are making their way into decisions that affect all the families and students that make up PYLUSD. Competency, community engagement, educator input, transparency, clear communication, fiscal and fiduciary responsibility, among others, are the necessary components of a complete educational experience for our young people.

Chris and I see the election in November as a chance to reset the PYLUSD board. We have followed the issues and looked through the resumes and qualifications of the candidates running for the privilege of serving on the board, to continue our storied tradition of excellence.

We are writing today to recommend to our fellow voting stakeholders to vote for Tricia Quintero in Area 1, Marilyn Anderson in Area 2, and Misty Janssen in Area 3.

This is, in so many ways, a critical November election for our town, our state, our nation, and Chris and I encourage  everyone to get out and vote, and please, consider our recommendation for these three fine candidates for the PYLUSD Board of Education.

Tricia Quintero is the perfect choice for the PYLUSD School Board.  Tricia has already been involved in our schools for years, is highly qualified, and obviously cares deeply about ALL students.  We need her expertise, common sense, and civility on our school board.  Please take notice that Tricia’s endorsements are from PYLUSD educators and parents, not politicians.  I worked for 30 years as a teacher in PYLUSD, the last 17 years at Brookhaven.  My son and daughter and all three granddaughters attended Golden, Tuffree and El Dorado.  I love PYLUSD.  Please vote for Tricia Quintero!  We NEED her on our school board.

I'm thrilled to endorse Tricia Quintero for school board trustee. As a teacher of 25 years and a dedicated wife and mother, Tricia embodies the compassion and wisdom our schools desperately need.

Since moving to Placentia in 2000, Tricia has poured her heart into our community. Her leadership in PTA, PTSA, and various booster clubs shows her unwavering commitment to our children's success.
